I've done and continue to do a lot of work to put the shame and grief to work and sometimes I've held onto it so strongly as a reminder...Yet I don't know if that's always the best way to handle it.
I get that struggle. We don’t want to forget who we were.
For me, that’s because I don’t want to go back there, but because it’s so familiar, when I’m not conscious, that’s the direction I often find myself going.
Do you find yourself, the more you step into who you are becoming, the more natural that becomes, the less you find yourself needing the reminder because that version of you is so foreign
Yes I do find that to be the case. I am definitely a different man than I was 5 years ago. I have compassion for that man and also awareness of how far I've come.
