Crap, somehow when trying to edit my comment and make it say “culture war” I removed yours. My deepest apologies as I try and learn this platform!

And of course now I’ve found the edit button. 🤦🏼‍♂️

I feel you on not knowing where to start from. That’s something I’ve been muddling around with for a while.

On other points, I get discomfort with the idea of a spectrum as it doesn’t fit with traditional experience (never mind the politics and culture war stuff). But, I’m aiming to run with the science and create space for those variances that do exist.

For example, a Y chromosome can pair with an X and even develop testes, but if those testes don’t produce testosterone, you will end up with someone who in all ways presents female but has internal testicles rather than ovaries.

You can also have people who develop one form of testosterone but not another and will, from birth, appear female, but then when higher levels of testosterone arrive with puberty, male features including sex organs and other features will develop.

These were a couple of the things that sent my mind spinning in the book, T: The Story of Testosterone, the Hormone that Dominates and Divides Us.
